Terms Entered in Search Tools
When you type a name, location, or other query into a partner-operated search box, the entry is sent to that third-party provider to process the request. Alpena County Released Inmates does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider’s privacy terms govern its handling of the query.
Messages Sent to Us
If you send an email or submit a contact message, we retain the details needed to read and answer it. We do not share that correspondence outside our organization unless a legal duty requires disclosure.
Technical Data Collected Automatically
A page visit may create routine technical logs used to operate and assess the site. Those logs can include:
- Your internet protocol address.
- The browser name and version in use.
- Your device category and operating system.
- The pages opened and time spent on them.
- The referring website, when available.
- The date and time of the request.
Cookie Controls
Cookies help show how visitors move through the site and which features work well. You can block or remove cookies through your browser. Some functions may respond differently when cookies are disabled.
How Information Supports the Site
Collected data is used for limited operational purposes:

Privacy Beyond Our Pages
Links may lead to Alpena County release records, Sheriff and court pages, MDOC resources, federal locators, or independent search services. Once you leave this site, the destination’s privacy policy controls. Michigan public bodies also manage official records under their own rules, including the Michigan Freedom of Information Act, MCL 15.231 et seq.
Some advertising companies may use their own technology to recognize activity across multiple websites and select interest-based ads. That processing occurs on the advertising partner’s systems, not on ours.
Parties That May Receive Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may still be provided to a limited set of recipients when needed to deliver or operate the service:
- Search providers that process a query you submit.
- Analytics vendors that measure site performance and use.
- Advertising networks that deliver ads.
- Law enforcement or another government body acting under a valid legal order.
Reasonable Security, Not Certainty
We use standard safeguards intended to protect information in our care. No website, network, or internet transmission can be made completely secure. We therefore cannot promise that a breach, loss, or unauthorized access will never occur.
Visitors Younger Than Eighteen
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted information may use the Get in Touch page to request its deletion.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law and our ability to verify a request, you may ask us to:
- Provide a copy of personal data we hold about you.
- Correct information that is inaccurate.
- Delete personal data where the law permits.
- Stop certain forms of processing.
